Ah Metroparks! A uniquely Ohio thing, they’re simply regional parks with walking paths and other public activities– and Dublin has some of the best! With over 60 parks in the city, each offers citizens something special. Featuring playful exhibits, elements, and paths, there’s fun to be had for the whole family. Check out some of our favorites below!
Ballantrae Community Park- Also known as “Bunny Park” by the locals, Ballantrae is a great way to cool off during the hotter months of the summer. Featuring dozens of spray fountains, Ballantrae is a fantastic alternative to what can often be crowded swimming pools.
Scioto Park- Scioto Park is the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful Dublin summer. Whether you’re looking for the best picnic spot or somewhere to throw a ball, you’ll find it at Scioto. Home to beautiful river views, shelters to hide from the rain, and a fun playground for the kids, you can spend a full day wandering the grounds. Scioto Park is also home to the most famous public art in Dublin, a 12 foot stone memorial to Chief Leatherlips, a legend from local Native American legend. During the summer, you can check out the Sundays at Scioto, a series of live concerts put on by the Dublin Art Council!
Amberleigh Community Park- Amberleigh is the best way to get out into nature this summer. Featuring miles of walking trails, nature areas, and stunning river access, you can spend days wandering around the towering trees and serene wilderness. But that’s not all! Amberleigh Community Park also features a unique playground and play village area, with oversized houses, buildings, and trucks, to awe and inspire your little ones.
Avery Park- Avery Park is for all the sports lovers in Dublin. Featuring baseball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, and more, just about any sport you can think of can be played here. Avery Park is also the home of Out of Bounds, a public art installation featuring seven oversized soccer balls, perfect for kids to climb on or your next photo op.
Nando’s Dog Park in Darree Fields Park- Looking for somewhere to bring your pup? Look no further than Nando’s Dog Park in Darree Fields Park! Named after Dublin’s first k-9 officer, Nando is every dog’s dream. Don’t have a furry friend to bring? Don’t worry! There are still plenty of activities for two-legged friends, such as the Miracle League Playground, featuring 18 soccer fields and seven baseball diamonds.
